Eating experience sometimes is more interesting when you can see the cook at work. Lunch at Wasabi today totally ruined the effect of the whole life-long advice from our parents to not play with our food. The chef threw whatever he could in the air, and threw some for us to catch with our wee bowls, it was exciting. To have the whole egg landed splat on my lap was quite inevitable really, but I really had a good time. […]
My little elf was very helpful and looking very happy in our last day of baking. I love baking, so these pre-Christmas baking days are one of my favourite days in the year. The house smells wonderful with the smell of cookies baking in the oven, and I truly enjoyed listening to the non-stop chatters of my little girl, who broke into Christmas songs every now and then while she dusted the cookies with sugar. My mom did a lot […]
Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO500 | f/3.5 | 1/40 | Christmas is around the corner. More ribbons, cards, and wrapping papers are inevitable despite the notion (that we adults keep telling our kids) that Christmas is NOT about presents. It is the giving that can be a bit addictive, I suppose. The joy of creating joy. And that, my friends, with many ugly things happening around the world, is something we need to be grateful for this […]
Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO400 | f/5 | 1/800 | These cute little things are Christmas soaps! Ms 4 received them from her BFF who, with his mom, made these themselves using melt and pour soap and some colours. That bit of glitter on the yellow one was added especially for her. Nice touch, don’t you think? It’s not Christmas without sparkles..!
Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO160 | f/2.8 | 1/6| There is something about twinkling lights that just draw you in. Or maybe that’s just me. And moths.
Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO200 | f/11 | 1/500 | Objects look better at dusk. Even these bunch of weeds. The composition wasn’t perfect as I felt a bit precious today and refused to lie down on the ground full of prickly dried grass. I placed my camera in front of object and looked on using the Live View (Lv) feature because the angle was a bit challenging. It’s quite hard to set up the camera this […]
My biggest distraction in doing this project are books. I always find it hard to drag myself out of the world these books kept me in. The longer the stories, the thicker the volumes, the better. A mammoth effort with the last scrape of self-discipline got me into producing today’s photo. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go back to the story in the 18th century Edinburgh .. Photo was taken using an iPhone
Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO400 | f/3.5 | 1/320 | Not many school days left for the year. Not many days left that I get to wait in the car with Ms 4 to pick her brother up from school. She too will start in the big school soon. What big changes we will have next year, and what strange mix feelings I’m having now.
This morning was pleasant. Weather wise. It’s not too warm and there was plenty of cool air from the wind. A perfect running day. I remember at the beginning of this project I took a lot of photos with my iPhone during my morning/afternoon run. I’d stop and snapped, and continued on running. I didn’t do that a lot these days as I used mostly my DSLR for my posts. Today I decided to do it again; to take photos […]
Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO200 | f/4.5 | 1/250 | Day number 333 of 2012 was definitely one of the hottest day in Canberra to date. It’s scary to think it can go hotter, way hotter. The past two summers were ‘fake’, as in not hot at all (cold even), and very very wet, so it came as a shock to the system a bit to experience this kind of heat today. I could go as […]
