Today’s adventure brought us to this wonderful place that sells happiness in small tubs. I’ve never seen so many different and exciting flavored ice cream in one place before. Gelato Messina in Sydney was still filled with people queuing up for ice cream close to 10 PM for good reasons. I’ve tasted (at least) 6 flavors of those reasons tonight…
A yummy Boxing day lunch at friends’ house today was what we had to ‘face’ upon waking up from a food coma, from another Christmas celebration yesterday. So blessed with friends who are good cooks, all I can do is be grateful and enjoy the food.
Eating experience sometimes is more interesting when you can see the cook at work. Lunch at Wasabi today totally ruined the effect of the whole life-long advice from our parents to not play with our food. The chef threw whatever he could in the air, and threw some for us to catch with our wee bowls, it was exciting. To have the whole egg landed splat on my lap was quite inevitable really, but I really had a good time. […]
It may be late, but it’s still 12/12/12 now. It won’t be soon so I’d better write this post super quick. No doomsday insight, instead I was out celebrating the end of year 2012 with some great friends before we go our separate merry ways for the holidays.
We did a day trip to Young for the 2013 National Cherry Picking Festival today. There were loads of happenings there, but the highlights for us, of course, was when we were at the Main Range orchard to pick some cherries ourselves (not all orchards were open for ‘pick yourself’ today). I’ve taken many photos there, but for today’s post I’m just going to share the one I took from my iPhone. It was a full day and I’m totally […]

Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO800 | f/3.2 | 1/20 | A lamington is a dessert of Australian origin. It consists of squares of sponge cake coated first in a layer of traditionally chocolate icing, then in desiccated coconut. (source: Wikipedia) Baking Friday is here again. Lamington is one of my family’s favourites, and it’s been quite awhile since the last time I made these babies. As I expected, once my kids found out what I was doing, they came and circling close to […]
Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO400 | f/3.2 | 1/20 | Not all pastas are tasted the same, in my children’s eyes. Regardless of the pasta sauce and my 15 minutes length explanation of how pasta is made, they still believe that the bow-tie pasta (farfalle) is the most delicious of all. There is no logic in this. I stopped fighting for the ‘truth’ watching how eager they ate their ‘most delicious’ pasta dinner. They will meet the […]
Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO200 | f/5 | 1/320 | There was a lot of fun to be had at today’s fete and it was a nice day for it too (no rain in sight). All the cupcakes have all gone to fulfil their life destiny. The world was okay again.
Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO500 | f/5 | 1/30 | Any of these tickle your fancy? There are chocolate fudge frosting vanilla cupcakes, chocolate fudge frosting chocolate cupcakes, caramel icing chocolate cupcakes, freckle top butter cream vanilla cupcakes and cream cheese icing red velvet cupcake with dark chocolate flakes on top. These cupcakes are going to be sold (amongst other super duper yummy things) at AILSA* Fete/Garage Sale tomorrow (Sat , 10 Nov). If your Saturday looks […]
I love macarons and I cannot lie. A visit to this shop and be surrounded by these babies made one of the highlights in Melbourne today. Thanks M for saving me from the other less heavenly shop and lead me to this place of happiness. The name of the shop? La Belle Miette. Down at 30 Hardware Lane, Melbourne.
