Day 296 #Project365

October 22, 2012 by [ayu]

I was out of bribe, so I was grateful for this book that made Mr 8 sit still and totally engross in it that he did not mind me sitting down in front of him and just clicked away. Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO1600* | f/6.3 | 1/100 * I forgot to set the ISO back after some earlier shots, that’s how I ended up with such high ISO. Lucky the shot works, even when […]

Day 291 #Project365

October 17, 2012 by [ayu]

Every time after having my hair cut and coloured at a hair salon, I always have this narcissistic urge to take a self-portrait. The reason is quite simple, really, because it is practically the only time my hair looks so great. I’ll have this great hair day for two days, then the magic will be over as soon as I do my first hair wash at home. So it is rather ‘important’ to try to capture these rare great-hair-moments. Did […]

Day 281 #Project365

October 7, 2012 by [ayu]

This was not her ‘nicest’ expression but it sure was one of the cheeky ones. And she has loads of them. Glad I captured this in what seemed like an ‘off’ day today. Nothing, photography wise, seemed to go right. Ms 4 here was in her (half) dress rehearsal for a dance performance next week with the other baby butterflies. Six more sleep to go … Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED | ISO2500 | f/5 | 1/40 […]

Day 269 #Project365

September 25, 2012 by [ayu]

The joy on her face while she was swinging high was so priceless. Her hair went everywhere. She was squealing and laughing so hard and so loud that if I hadn’t known better I’d guess that this was her first time on a swing. At one point she was even leaning back so far she almost flipped out of the swing. My intention was to capture all the riot, but sadly I failed. Capturing flying hair of a moving child […]

Day 260 #Project365

September 16, 2012 by [ayu]

Ok. A lousy attempt was better than zero attempt. At least today. One thing I like the least is taking a Self Portrait. However, Darren Rowse from DPS yesterday posted pretty good shot of himself (plus instructions) on how to do Self Portrait using an iPhone, which he then posted in Instagram. Feeling quite tired after spending almost the day out and found myself totally empty on ideas to post today, I thought I’d give it a try. So here was […]

Day 256 #Project365

September 12, 2012 by [ayu]

Since my friend lent me his telelens last Saturday, I tried whenever I can to use it until the time I have to return it back in a couple of days. So far there are heaps to learn. With the 70-300mm lens, I find that I have to readjust the exposure further, as the camera does not give me the right information that I ended up with many under exposed images. The lens widest aperture is f/4, I find I […]

Day 229 #Project365

August 16, 2012 by [ayu]

It was house arrest with two sick kids day 4. I expected tiredness but not boredom. I totally did not expect boredom to come in between all the feedings, tissue clean ups, meds drama and in-house entertainment program. But it was here. So forgive me for using one of the patients to be my subject of the day, it was my way to self-entertain and an attempt to kick boredom out of the window. It worked.

Day 223 #Project365

August 10, 2012 by [ayu]

When one person in a family is learning photography, or is a photographer (already accomplished), the fate of the rest of the family is as good as written in stone. Sooner or later, more often than not, they will be asked/cajoled/forced and, or bribed into sitting in front of camera to be a model. This sacrifice is necessary for the good of the one person who learns photography. At this stage it is indeed very self-centered in nature because it […]

Day 220 #Project365

August 7, 2012 by [ayu]

The park was totally deserted this late afternoon. Not at all surprising considering what time  of the day it was and how cold and windy the day had been.  My gal was there for the playground, while I was there to work on my photography homework, which was to do portrait photography with her as my model. It was a challenging session as my child was constantly moving, and when she stopped running around, she decided to hop on the […]

Day 215 #Project365

August 2, 2012 by [ayu]

When my kids were still tiny babies, I learned soon enough the difference in their cries. Thought it was a myth at first, but I turned a believer once I could actually tell the hungry cry from a sleepy one, or the -I’m-sick- cry from simple boredom cry. Now that they are bigger, they cry less, but cry nonetheless especially when emotions or pain gets too overwhelming. Mere words just won’t do. There was a sad moment today for Ms […]

Day 3 of laughter and cuddle filled days continues. Ms 4 and her lovely cousin are happy to play and be together. Precious.

Day 149 #Project365

May 28, 2012 by [ayu]

For my Ms 4 there was no such a thing like Monday Blues, even when she had to stay home because of her cold. This one child of mine actually loves school, so to skip a day usually bums her out. The only reason I kept her home was because last week’s newsletter from school felt like it was addressed to me personally. The letter said for parents whose kids are sick the night or morning before school, we must […]
