Buddha Tooth Relic Temple

November 4, 2013 by [ayu]

We continued our roaming along the alleys of Chinatown in Singapore, then we stumbled upon this gorgeous building, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. There is almost always an outer gate around temples such as this one, which blocks the inner square right in front of the temple from the street outside. There was a lot of things to absorb as soon as I passed through the gate; the predominantly red colours everywhere just hit you straight in the eyes, the […]

chinatown – singapore

October 22, 2013 by [ayu]

Believe it or not, I have never set foot in Singapore’s Chinatown. Not once. I have been to Singapore many times before which was years and years ago. Especially when I still lived in Jakarta, it was even more often then. My young and shallow mind did not let my feet venture too far away from Orchard Street area and did not let myself to do things other than shopping. Now I’m  older (and a little bit wiser), I want […]

durian

October 16, 2013 by [ayu]

Never have I expected to write a post titled Durian. But here it is. For those who have never heard of the word (easy, people, I’m sure these people exist), Durian is a name of a fruit. It’s knows from its thorny skin (thorn=duri in Indonesian, thus the name: Durian), and distinctive smell. To those who like it, it’s just a normal smell, but to those unfamiliar with the fruit, like my son for example, he said it’s one of funkiest […]

(wet) nite vision – Sydney

July 3, 2013 by [ayu]

These photos were taken weeks ago, when the first week of Vivid in Sydney was on. We went that weekend despite the wet weather forecast because Nikon AU had a couple of events that day. They ran several classes we could sign online for free, and they also allowed us to borrow equipments for free (or really little money) during the event. I signed up for a Low Light class, which consisted of half hour talk and a chance to […]

night vision – Canberra

June 19, 2013 by [ayu]

These photos were taken about a month ago. It was a cold autumn night in Canberra, the temperature dropped to 5 degrees. Add a little of wind it actually felt even colder. I was ready in my layers of clothing (and gloves, and a beanie) I didn’t feel that uncomfortable. Taking night photography is always interesting. Most of the time is all about keeping still, that’s why we use the help of tripod. Then it’s a matter of waiting. How […]

the perfect dusk

May 13, 2013 by [ayu]

What I feel when standing in a beautiful place that is gleaming with golden hour light can be likened to a kid who stands in the middle of a candy shop. Wide eyed and excited, we like everything we see and we want to take it home. And there is A LOT of things we like. However, unlike the colourful candies that a kid can buy and take home, I can only take the beautiful view I see and capture it […]

Day 302 #Project365

October 28, 2012 by [ayu]

This is the scene at Wee Jasper this fine Sunday morning. This has been a super duper packed and fun weekend, so I had no energy left to write anything more here, nor do anything at all anywhere. Be back tomorrow with some renewed energy.

Day 277 #Project365

October 3, 2012 by [ayu]

Coming back from a short visit to Melbourne left me tired and somewhat rejuvenated.  I heard that to  get to know and ‘explore’ Melbourne you have to do it on foot. Do the laneways. Walk some more. Eat, drink coffee, stop for some sweets, eat, and walk some more. And just absorb it all up. And that was exactly what I did. As soon as I arrived I went straight to pick up a lens that I hired for the […]

Day 249 #Project365

September 5, 2012 by [ayu]

English Garden, Yarralumla. It’s super windy again in Canberra (59 km/hr wind, 80km/hr gusts) so obviously I was attracted to and captured the only things that didn’t move because they stood out so… Photos taken on iPhone

Day 226 #Project365

August 13, 2012 by [ayu]

Like it was in autumn when some trees have changed their colours before the rest of them caught on, those -I’m sure they are the same- trees now have decided to spruce up some happy spring colours before spring is officially here.  The random patches of colours here and there around town made the windiest month of winter almost bearable. They made the season a bit more -dare I say it- delightful. This winter is soon going to be over, […]

Day 216 #Project365

August 3, 2012 by [ayu]

My first Bird in Flight snap! It was unplanned, as I was busy trying to catch good shots of 5 kids under 5 on bikes. The day was beautiful, even the birds looked like they had so much fun just hanging out under the sun. Birds+kids = birds chased by kids, that’s how I caught this one. It’s not a perfect Bird in Flight snap, but it captured the feeling of this afternoon for me. All happy, free and glorious […]

Day 212 #Project365

July 30, 2012 by [ayu]

The winter this year turned out to be quite a serious one. The cold weather was not just a tease. This winter we had the cold temperature, freezing wind, and then some. We were greeted with frosty morning today. Even around 9 in the morning we could see a lot of white on the ground. In the shadowed area where the light hasn’t touched, everything was icy white. I’ve lived here almost 6 years now, and this morning was the […]
