It was a beautiful day today. No wind and almost no ripples on the water. I would’ve liked more clouds in the sky, but this clear blue sky worked as well. This picture was taken from the area behind Yarralumla Nursery. The water reflection was almost the exact mirror image of the scene above it. Oh how I love the color of winter in Canberra.
I’m not going to post a photo that I took today for today’s post. This one I took two weeks ago in Sydney and I’ve been ‘working on it’ for a couple of hours for my (long overdue) homework that it feels like I took this one just today, and it deserved to be shared today considering the time we spent together. My homework this time was all about colours. Understanding the colours, how they work and how they affect […]
A couple of months into this project 365, I developed a habit of taking my camera everywhere I go. Living with daily chaos of running a household with two young kids, to schedule a specific time daily for photo taking is the luxury we mothers usually don’t have. So, whenever I find myself waiting –waiting for my kids, food order, someone to pick me up– instead of reading I use it now for taking photos. Whether I feel like it or […]
Winter is just around the corner. A lot more trees without leaves started to dominate the scenery now. The trees that still have some leaves started to lose their top foliage covering the ground beneath with blankets of autumn coloured dried leaves. Soon they too will be left bare. I was (more) grateful (than usual) for my iPhone today. There I was feeling quite smug about my ‘time management’ that I could stop by Black Mountain Peninsula for a quick photo walk […]
This was the view that greeted me as I opened the door leading to the deck at the back of the house. Eerie looking view thanks to the fog. Usually we could only see white everywhere, but this time it seemed that the sun wouldn’t be beaten without a fight as I could see it shone through the mist. It was 1 degree Celsius.
As we were sitting in the car for the light to go green (still in Sydney) I noticed the beautiful St Mary Cathedral sprawled right in front of us. We’ve passed it many times this afternoon trying (unsuccessfully) to find a free parking spot in the city, but this time our car was stoping right in front of it thanks to the red light, and we were facing the cathedral without any obstacle. The sun was in its perfect position. […]
Mentally, even as I woke up I knew that I was in Sydney (other times it took me awhile to realise where I was). But, clearly I wasn’t that awake yet so I was shocked when I was looking at the weather for today and it said 7 degrees, slightly cloudy and foggy in the morning. I was like “Whaaaatttt??!!!” Then I realised. It was Canberra weather. Tapped Sydney, read 18 degrees and sunny, then I exhaled…phew. It was a […]
I went to a totally new terrain for running today. Well, Cooleman Ridge is always there and it is really close too, so really it is a bit silly that only now I went there for a run. To be honest I wouldn’t get there without hubby showing me the way. I am that bad in direction. It was a brilliant morning, sunny but cool. We needed something from a local shop so we decided to do a short run […]
Those in Canberra who slept through the morning and only woke up at noon would not believe it if I told them that this was how the morning looked like today. We woke up, we opened the blind, and still we thought we were a bit blind. It was white everywhere. We haven’t had a morning like this for so long, it took me awhile to move away from the window. This favourite dead tree of mine stands in the area […]
photos taken Dec 2010 Another first in my relationship with photography, I learned to take photos at night time. With a photog friend in tow barking instructions, I cranked up the ISO, turned the speed low and learned how to breath in, press the shutter, hold my breath and breath out when it’s done. It was a pleasant experience, I really enjoyed this night outting. Need to do more of this. The incredible lights! Oh my. They just illuminate.. Out […]
