Bonus Day #Project365

December 31, 2012 by [ayu]

Last sunset. 31 Dec 2012, Bradleys Point, NSW Happy New Year 2013! Wishing you a happy and prosperous new year filled with fun, love and laughter. I’ll take a month off blogging and will be back on your computer screen in February, (hopefully) with a new photography project.  Live long and prosper…

Day 358 #Project365

December 23, 2012 by [ayu]

Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO320 | f/4 | 2.0s Before food,  presents, alcohol and general festivity celebrations get in the way, I’d like to use this post to wish you all a lovely Christmas 2012! Give extra long hugs your loved ones , and be grateful of the abundant love you have around you this year. To my loyal readers (especially!), thank you for all your support throughout the year. I honestly didn’t think […]

Day 343 #Project365

December 8, 2012 by [ayu]

Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO200 | f/11 | 1/500 | Objects look better at dusk. Even these bunch of weeds. The composition wasn’t perfect as I felt a bit precious today and refused to lie down on the ground full of prickly dried grass. I placed my camera in front of object and looked on using the Live View (Lv) feature because the angle was a bit challenging. It’s quite hard to set up the camera this […]

Day 339 #Project365

December 4, 2012 by [ayu]

Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO500 | f/2 | 1/15 | Despite the intention, our tree is still not up yet. I’m still busy prepping, selecting ornaments, thinking, or making new ornaments, as I always do every year. I probably enjoy this part more than the actual tree decorating. This drives my kids crazy, of course, because all they want to do is to decorate our Christmas tree, especially after looking at all these colourful and sparkly things […]

Day 324 #Project365

November 19, 2012 by [ayu]

Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO320 | f/3.5 | 1/320 | It pays to take my camera everywhere. Like today. It was our typical Monday, we didn’t do anything special that could warrant a ‘special’ shot. Ms 4 and I arrived a bit early at my son’s school, so we had to wait a bit until he came out. She moved to the passenger seat and reclined the seat so she could lie down. A bit tired she […]

Day 299 #Project365

October 25, 2012 by [ayu]

I came from the land of black hair and dark brown eyes, that’s why taking photographs of people with other colour of hair and eyes (non black hair, and non brown eyes) is fascinating to me. This boy is the perfect example. R is  3 years old with a thick red hair, dark green eyes and cute freckles peppering his face. His mom and I often have coffee together, but only today I had my camera ready, and only today […]

Day 293 #Project365

October 19, 2012 by [ayu]

It’s going to be another floral post again today. Very unlike me, I know. But this flower is rather special, because despite its brilliant colours it has such a weird shape. And I love unconventional, weirdly shaped flowers. Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO200 | f/6.3 | 1/125 | These are Irises. They don’t even belong to me. These flowers are my neighbour’s flowers. My across the road neighbour is this lovely old lady who […]

Day 291 #Project365

October 17, 2012 by [ayu]

Every time after having my hair cut and coloured at a hair salon, I always have this narcissistic urge to take a self-portrait. The reason is quite simple, really, because it is practically the only time my hair looks so great. I’ll have this great hair day for two days, then the magic will be over as soon as I do my first hair wash at home. So it is rather ‘important’ to try to capture these rare great-hair-moments. Did […]

Day 284 #Project365

October 10, 2012 by [ayu]

This shot was about compromises. I had the delicious late afternoon light, a bee, and the lovely lavender, but I couldn’t get rid of the step on the foreground. Cropping the step out was not an acceptable option. When I sat back and moved a bit, I lost the step, but lost the bee as well, as it was already busy buzzing elsewhere. And the angle of the light in the step-less image looked somewhat different. So I picked this […]

Day 277 #Project365

October 3, 2012 by [ayu]

Coming back from a short visit to Melbourne left me tired and somewhat rejuvenated.  I heard that to  get to know and ‘explore’ Melbourne you have to do it on foot. Do the laneways. Walk some more. Eat, drink coffee, stop for some sweets, eat, and walk some more. And just absorb it all up. And that was exactly what I did. As soon as I arrived I went straight to pick up a lens that I hired for the […]

Day 270 #Project365

September 26, 2012 by [ayu]

Flowers are one of my ‘fallback’ subjects. Sound harsh I know. But it’s true. They are there, naturally pretty and not moving,  they are an easy subject to photograph and guarantee (mostly) successful result. I find them very helpful whenever I am short of ideas, or too tired from normal daily stuff, or lazy (366 days in a year, I think I’m allowed a day or  7 days of lazy, right). Today’s excuse was exhaustion. This tree on my backyard […]
