Portrait Project – 48/52

December 11, 2014 by [ayu]

30 Nov 2014. A cuddle in the early birthday morning, when you still smell like sleep, when teeth haven’t met brush&toothpaste, and when everyone was wearing what they were wearing the night before. It’s the best kind of birthday cuddles of all.

The Annual Nara Candle Festival was on last Saturday. Before I continue this blog, let me just tell you that I forgot to charge my camera battery that day, and left with a flat battery 10 minutes after we arrived. So, just to manage expectation here, there will be no beautiful candle glow at night shots. None. There were a lot of things happening at the festival even before it got dark. There were art martial demonstrations (there were many […]

For the past few years I’ve been meaning to visit the Tulip Top Garden. Only this year we finally managed to go there. The garden opens for roughly one month long every year, so I felt lucky we ‘caught’ it in time this year. The garden was beautiful, the flowers were gorgeous -the tulips looked so vibrant and healthy- and even the weather was kind to us that day. The flowers in the garden provided a very colourful and perfect […]

Portraits of family in the ‘wild’. This was our first camping since last summer (January 2014), so it’s been awhile; and it seemed that everyone was missing it. The time spent outdoor was enjoyed to the max. Dog especially loved to bask in the morning light.

Portrait Project – 13/52

March 30, 2014 by [ayu]

This week’s portraits were not really my usual cup of tea. I mean, yes, I do portraits photography, but I do more of lifestyle photography; candid photos in an events or taking portraits in an event, where the fashion or what the people are wearing is not really the focus of the photographs. This weekend, there was an opportunity to take portrait of real models. What’s more interesting was the fact that the models were acting like mannequins and uniformly made […]

Portrait Project – 12/52

To commit myself in the 52 weeks of Portrait Project, I knew that at some point I’d have to do a self portrait just to complete the whole portrait taking for a year experience. I knew I’d have to do it because it would be the most challenging to me, and therefore would be perfect for this project.  I call it a big challenge because first of all, I feel less comfortable to stand in front of the camera than […]

Portrait Project – 11/52

The sight that greeted us as we arrived at the Fire Garden, as part of  Canberra Enlighten 2014 event last week, was simply amazing. Flickers of many tiny fires in the dark of the night would draw you in, made you want to get closer to their warmth and you couldn’t help but to come as close as it was permitted. And stare. The light and shadow dance was just mesmerizing beautiful to watch.
