This weekend I had another opportunity to take portraits of fashion models at an event. It was at Hustle&Scout twilight fashion market, at the Forage, in Canberra. The difference to the ‘traditional’ fashion event was, these models were draped in food. Working together with make up artists, hair stylists and stylist they created different themes to ‘dress’ the models in seasonal local produce (fruits and vegetables), and baked goods, like bread. The styling and all the behind-the-scene prep before the photo […]

What I feel when standing in a beautiful place that is gleaming with golden hour light can be likened to a kid who stands in the middle of a candy shop. Wide eyed and excited, we like everything we see and we want to take it home. And there is A LOT of things we like. However, unlike the colourful candies that a kid can buy and take home, I can only take the beautiful view I see and capture it […]

It’s early autumn in Canberra and we are slowly gearing up towards winter. The temperature dropped by two degrees or ten (at nights), and light jackets have started to see the light of days again. I was out walking and enjoying the sun while really savouring the changing colours around me. I love the colours of Canberra around this time of year. This early in autumn, all the leaves with changing colours are pretty much still hanging on tight to […]

Canberra has turned 100 on her birthday, the 12th of March, last week. A year-long events are planned in 2013 for the Centenary of Canberra celebration. You can check here for details. The Canberra Day long weekend was like a big party weekend here in Canberra. There were so many things happening, day and night, from Friday to Monday. I went to a few events, and I am sharing the photos of these events here, starting with the hot air balloon […]

Here is the dark side of autumn. It’s the phase after the leaves have changed their colours. I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s the phase where the leaves started shrinking from the cold, some even looked rotten like these leaves from my rose-bush. They’d go like that until they could no longer hold on to the branches that a weak wind or some rain drops would cause them to fall off and landed in the ground joining all […]

Winter is just around the corner. A lot more trees without leaves started to dominate the scenery now. The trees that still have some leaves started to lose their top foliage covering the ground beneath with blankets of autumn coloured dried leaves. Soon they too will be left bare. I was (more) grateful (than usual) for my iPhone today. There I was feeling quite smug about my ‘time management’ that I could stop by Black Mountain Peninsula for a quick photo walk […]

The Canberra International Music Festival brought us to Kingston Foreshore today. It was a nice community event; great music, nice kiosks, lovely mulled wine and great companies. I was wearing my loyal converse with thin socks that gave me no warmth whatsoever. So once I could no longer feel my toes I decided it was time to head home. We passed these baldies on our way back to the car park. I could never resist bald trees, so I managed […]

It’s half a moth away before winter is officially here. Some of the trees had gone completely bald. You see fewer flowers, too, that was why it was quite surprising that I still found a lot of flowers still blooming in my back yard ‘jungle’. I was walking around at the back when I realised how pretty everything looked. It was around 2 PM so the sun was already at an angle this season. I took a lot of photos […]

The cold still totally knocked me out today but I was grateful for the pleasure of being able to rest properly with adequate amount of tea, thousands of kisses&cuddles and some home-made brownies (made by the kids with their dad’s help), which I called the ‘perks’ of being a mom on Mother’s day.

Consider today’s post is a bumper post, or my sick day edition (hopefully we have minimal of these days this year). As I am still feeling blaah and totally not up to taking any photos today, I posted a photo I took during my photo walk last Anzac Day (25 April). This was (what used to be) a grassy ground in one of the parking areas near Acton park. The grass has all dried up and made pretty by the […]

It’s still autumn here in Canberra and I have already started to notice the challenges I was about to face going into the colder months. Winter means three things: shorter days, colder days and dark. I need to get more organised with my days so that I can get more shots using natural lights during daylight, and it is inevitable that I have to be extra creative with experiments/project using artificial lighting indoors. I can, of course, venture the world […]
