Long face in the cone. This was taken two weeks ago, right after his procedure to fix an ear hematoma. The poor boy was not happy and let everybody knew it. As of a week ago, his bandage was off, but he has to keep the cone until the end of the month. The cone -along with our legs, furnitures and the window’s floor-length blind- was badly battered and ripped at the moment (this is a non-exageration; part of our […]
My dog Bruno turned 10 today. Hip hip hoorah! His greyish muzzle shows his age, but I can’t say the same about his behaviour. He still behaves like a pup. It’s true what they say, Labradors have a (very) long period of puppyhood. In Bruno’s case, I’m afraid, it’s never ending. Bruno is a well travelled dog. He was born in Lommel (Belgium), 10 years ago, and moved with us to Australia when he was 5. He left Belgium a […]
This was the dip after Christmas before we all get excited again to welcome the new year. It’s the day when reality started to tap on your shoulder and reminded you that you still have the whole household to take care of even when you are in a ‘holiday’. Well, I was busy all day doing chores and almost forgot that I haven’t posted anything. Thank you Bruno, my always ready back-up subject. He’s ready to go to bed, in […]
Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO500 | f/5.6 | 1/100| This is Whiskey. He is a super duper active 2-year-old dog. He was surrounded and totally spoiled with treats by a bunch of kids today, maybe that’s why he looked so happy. I’m so glad to see that other dog finding it hard to stay clean. Like my dog. Whiskey here was covered in cob/spider web all over his face and body, with some dried […]
Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO320 | f/2.8 | 1/125 | I took this shot pointing my camera behind the thick foliage under the deck. Dog was chillin’ on the sand under the deck ready for his afternoon nap. This is his favourite place outside the house. Explains why there are tons of sand/dirt on the floor inside our house every single day despite my obsessive floor-sweeping.
This sandy and scattered with hair floor… Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO400 | f/3.2 | 1/6 | ..is the ‘price’ we pay for sharing our life with this hairy face. Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO4000 | f/5| 1/8 | But he’s totally worth it! 🙂 PS: In another news, today is the 300th day of the year, people! Sixty six days to go before we welcome 2013. Indeed. It’s crazy.
That special skill to keep my subject of photography ‘engaged’ for the shoot was in serious doubt today. For one the subject was clearly not very enthusiastic. He wasn’t even awake, he fell asleep soon after, and even snored a little despite me lying down on my belly right in front of his face breathing close to his nose. I want to focus on his greying muzzle this time, as it looks more grey than ever. I was sure it […]

Wonder what he was seeing from there. Was it a look out, or a stake out? Was he watching the rain? Or just followed anything that moved out in the street? Did he wish to go outside and played in the rain? I bet he was just daydreaming…
This is Louie. He is an old Belgian Cattle dog (Bouvier Des Flanders) that I met and hung out with recently. He’s a big dog, weighs around 50 kg, and has the most tangled fur I’ve ever seen in a dog. Louie is not the cleanest dog either, but as most dogs, he has very kind eyes that just begs for a pet. He’s very good at it so of course he gets what he asks for. He came with […]
Bruno our dog is a funny dog. He’s our constant daily amusement, day and night, regardless whether he’s awake or asleep. This huge basket is his bed ever since he was a little pup. We knew he’s going to be a big dog, so we bought extra-large size ‘basket’ as his bed even when he could only occupy a quarter of the space then, and he’s been sleeping in it ever since. Now he’s fully grown, and fully occupied his […]
Ideally, for a ‘portrait’ photo like this the model should stand about a metre or two away from the photographer to make the composition works, and create a good balance of space between the model and the lovely background. Ideally. Today’s model was somewhat undisciplined. He flunked his first training at puppy school because he was way too playful and easily distracted. The instructors were not too happy with him (true story) so we agreed the best way was to […]
Today was one of the drab days. I’ve been feeling under the weather lately, and felt totally exhausted today. I have zero energy left. What Bruno is doing in the photo is exactly what I feel like doing and probably what I am going to do right after I published this post. Either that, or just veg out in front of TV until I’m conked out on the sofa.
