While all the photographs in my previous post focused on the structure of the Cloud Forest dome, this time I’m going to focus on the flowers that grow in the garden inside the two domes. I visited the Gardens by the Bay during the day. The lighting inside the dome was just beautiful, it made taking photos of the flowers such a joy, especially when we were inside the Flower Dome. It was really pleasant inside the Flower Dome, like […]
Today was a very wet Saturday in Canberra. The rain started from early morning all through the day and I suspected a soft drizzle even now as I was writing this post after the kids have gone to bed. Droplets were everywhere. The greens were greener. Most colours saved white have gone darker. Richer. All the plants got drenched. Some droplets on the leaves looked like sparkling gems, very pretty. These images were my capture of the wet world around […]

In winter, things look and feel better when the sun is shinning. For a moment today we were blessed to see blue sky and a nice warm sunshine. It certainly did lit up my day, after such drab grey winter colors we were having since the beginning of the week. More people were out and about walking their dogs and got all friendlier and chattier with each other, myself included. There’s a bit of sun seeker in all of us, […]
Is it a vegetable? Is it a flower? Are those leaves or are those petals? Again, I picked up flowers that I was unknown to me. I asked the staff there, and she didn’t know either. Though we both agreed these flowers looked like cabbage. Anyone knows the name of this flower feel free to write it down in the comment section. Enlighten me. One thing for sure, though, this flower has a very peculiar look. Look at the details. I […]
It’s half a moth away before winter is officially here. Some of the trees had gone completely bald. You see fewer flowers, too, that was why it was quite surprising that I still found a lot of flowers still blooming in my back yard ‘jungle’. I was walking around at the back when I realised how pretty everything looked. It was around 2 PM so the sun was already at an angle this season. I took a lot of photos […]
Today I’m doing floral. I have this feeling that I haven’t done any flowers lately. Considering the season we are in at the moment I guess it’s not really a surprise, but to be sure I took a look at images I have taken to date that I have organised by month. (I read somewhere that the big part of Project 365 is to look back at what you have done, to see and learn from the images, so that’s […]
Sun flowers are fascinating to me. Look at the size of it. Even the smallest flower is way bigger than the rest of the (normal) flowers. It is not enough that they are huge, they also come in screaming bright yellow. Hard to miss. Believe it or not, we once had ONE sun flower in our ‘back yard’. Back yard is the term I use loosely to describe a huge bucket of soil next to my deck. Mr 8 was […]
Isn’t it ironic that something this pretty can grow so beautifully in the garden of someone who doesn’t even like roses? Nor pink? This post is dedicated to all roses lover out there.
We will face a wet week ahead. From now until Sunday it will be showers (in various degree of intensity) in Canberra. This week is the last week of school holiday. The kids will be back at school next Monday whether they are ready or not. Hopefully the wet weather can help me adjusting the kids ‘body clock’ from the holiday mode to the school mode. No more late night sleeping, no more sleeping in. Yeah. Fun week ahead! Brace […]
It’s cool and cloudy in Canberra this Sunday morning. It’s very nice actually. Hubby just cleaned up all the fallen leaves outside and these little flowers kinda standout amongst their really dark leaves. Have a blessed Sunday, people!
