Portrait Project – 44/52

November 6, 2014 by [ayu]

The boy who never really liked to have his photo taken, well at least not by me, was a totally different person today. Not only playing with me, he posed, checked how it turned out in the camera, and posed some more. It’s a Happy Day!

Portrait Project – 27/52

July 10, 2014 by [ayu]

On her head was a piece  from our past holiday that had successfully flown me back to Petra, even when it was only in my head. First on her head, then in my head.

Portrait Project – 23/52

June 10, 2014 by [ayu]

My precious hearts. I ‘asked’ these three to drop everything and to stay together in one spot for an impromptu after dinner photo shoot. I just remember I don’t have a picture of them together, and I would like to have one. One good one. Well, dog had nothing in particular that he had to do, so that was kinda interesting how bored he looked, couldn’t tell what his problem was. My kids, on the other hand, was a different matter. There were […]

Portrait Project – 21/52

May 27, 2014 by [ayu]

“If he thought at all, but I don’t believe he ever thought, it was that he and his shadow, when brought near each other, would join like drops of water, and when they did not he was appalled. He tried to stick it on with soap from the bathroom, but that also failed.” Peter Pan by James M Barrie I could not help but thinking of Peter Pan and his shadow while watching Ms. 6 (and her shadow) twirling around, […]

up in the air

March 7, 2013 by [ayu]

Do you remember when you were young kids and played so hard, you would run so very fast, or jump so high that your chest hurt and you had to stop to catch your breath just to do it again the whole day, and how happy that made you feel? Well, these shots of my son took me back to that time. There must be something joyful about keeping your body up in the air that he always try to […]

not. happy. mum.

It was a hot humid day that weekend. Ms K was all dressed up in Indonesian costume ready to join the children’s parade in Civic for the 2013 Canberra Multicultural Festival. The waiting was too long, the day was too hot, the walk from the parking to the venue was too far, well, basically, everything was too wrong for her. And to top it all off, she was extra upset that I did not bring her swimmers so she […]

Day 242 #Project365

August 29, 2012 by [ayu]

Served me right to ambush Ms.4 and Teddy in the hallway and ‘attack’ them with my camera. Well, at least Teddy was cooperative…

Day 220 #Project365

August 7, 2012 by [ayu]

The park was totally deserted this late afternoon. Not at all surprising considering what time  of the day it was and how cold and windy the day had been.  My gal was there for the playground, while I was there to work on my photography homework, which was to do portrait photography with her as my model. It was a challenging session as my child was constantly moving, and when she stopped running around, she decided to hop on the […]

Day 218 #Project365

August 5, 2012 by [ayu]

This was my boy’s first swimming ‘race’. It’s not a race in traditional sense, you know, against other people, but he was doing a Personal Best ‘Race’ (PB Race) against..well, himself, that the swimming school organised once a month. They record his swimming time in each style, and  his time this month will be compared to the time he will make the next month to see how he progresses..or not. I was excited because this was the first time he […]

Day 215 #Project365

August 2, 2012 by [ayu]

When my kids were still tiny babies, I learned soon enough the difference in their cries. Thought it was a myth at first, but I turned a believer once I could actually tell the hungry cry from a sleepy one, or the -I’m-sick- cry from simple boredom cry. Now that they are bigger, they cry less, but cry nonetheless especially when emotions or pain gets too overwhelming. Mere words just won’t do. There was a sad moment today for Ms […]
