Day 330 #Project365

November 25, 2012 by [ayu]

My son’s Lego table looked great for a couple of days after that big clean in August.  From then to now, more than 3 months long, the table was totally covered by Lego pieces that you couldn’t even see the surface anymore. Today I couldn’t take it anymore. I could see some dust peeking through some of the pieces, so I just threw them all into the ‘half-way’ box (to be sorted out later), and separated all the ready-made pieces, […]

Day 228 #Project365

August 15, 2012 by [ayu]

Completed bodies went to one teeny tiny compartment, those without heads went to the other, those legs without bodies went to one, and heads only went to another. Who knew there were too many battle droids that we needed two compartments instead of just one, and another one for weapons only. Every brick had been assorted and categorised, and everything was in their ‘assigned’ box (13 boxes in total, 3 of them with small compartments). Exhale. Even though this is […]

Day 227 #Project365

August 14, 2012 by [ayu]

When one sick kid on the weekend became two sick kids once the new week started, one had to find more creative ways to entertain the said kids. A collection of good movies were always valued in a time like this, but even watching movies has its limit. Playing board games was out of the questions considering the kids’ low energy. Coughs and sneezes were the music of the day, competing with the endless whining and whingeing. For Mr 8 however, […]

Day 180 #Project365

June 28, 2012 by [ayu]

Stumbled upon the mess that was Mr 8’s room and found ‘our’ unsorted Lego box was filled to the brim. And there was another box also full you couldn’t put a lid on it. My inner OCD self was screaming while I closed the door as if I didn’t see anything.

artful bricks

February 28, 2012 by [ayu]

One day in January we went to the Art of the Bricks exhibition. It was an exhibition of Lego sculptures by Nathan Sawaya as a treat for my son as part of his birthday presents. Everything that the guy made was amazing, the exhibition was very inspiring.  This hanging guy was my favourite. I hope my photo could do it justice.

Twinkling Lights – a belated Xmas post

January 29, 2012 by [ayu]

Ok. I am well aware that this is January and no longer Christmas. But, as I mentioned several posts ago, I am doing a big catch up in post processing my back log photos, and I am up to doing photos from last December already(yay!). I was practising with the Christmas lights and ornaments guided by the DPS (Digital Photography School)’s Christmas tutorial. I was happy with the results. Those big colourful lights were exactly what I was after. I […]

Day 28 #Project365

January 28, 2012 by [ayu]

Skulls by Nathan Samayan. It was a great Lego fun for us in the afternoon at the Lego exhibition ‘the art if the bricks‘ in Sydney. An hour long walking around the amazing sculptures by Nathan Samayan followed by 45 minutes free play Lego for some Lego building challenges. The boys (hubby, son & Phil) won both challenges, to build the tallest tower and a car that can roll the furthest (released from a ramp). They were all pretty psyched […]

Marked!

January 25, 2012 by [ayu]

I started a photography course in January, and it’s been really great. I must admit sometimes it was hard to get on with my reading with the kids around me this summer holiday. Miracelously, I finished my second module of the program, and this photo was the one I submitted for the assignment.  I had fun with this assignment. I picked Lego because I was practically ‘breathing’ Lego last week thanks to my son (click here to read All Lego […]

Day 18 #Project365

January 18, 2012 by [ayu]

To say that we are up to our neck in Lego bricks is such an understatement. We are practically swimming in the ocean of bricks at the moment. My son is a huge Lego fan and is lucky enough to have a lot of them. As one of my good friends said it’s a dilemma; in one hand we want our kids to be creative and build new things from the set, but in the other we also want them […]

Day 14 #Project365

January 14, 2012 by [ayu]

Is the world coming to an end, that Star Wars peeps needed to join forces with Hogwart’s kids gathering around a long table trying to save it? Well, turned out my imagination went a bit too far. Mr 7 (his head peeping in the background) clarified that it was a friendly gathering. Apparently, Harry and friends were just dining together with Snow Troopers&co. “If there is a war somewhere”, he said, “shouldn’t there be at least a Jedi in the […]

(My) Child’s Play

January 24, 2011 by [ayu]

When a piggy bank ‘broke’ open today, one Power Miner became two. Spending ALL the money saved was clearly his plan, my son also bought himself a little Lego Ninja just to add to his (now quite extensive) Lego collection. He said his Ninja looks so fierce. I thought his little Ninja looks so adorable with his frowning little face, complete with all his Ninja gear (a katana, a big sword, a spear and, yes, a set of arrow). I […]
