December 19, 2012 by [ayu]

12 more days to the end of 2012. 12 more days to the end of the project. I almost can’t believe it.

Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO250 | f/16 | 1/10 | A rose this magnificent should not grow in a yard of someone who does not even like roses like myself. But it does. Day 295 #Project365

October 21, 2012 by [ayu]

A bit too much fun on a Sunday usually means less time to take a picture. This is the only picture I took with my iPhone today (gasp!).

Day 292 #Project365

October 18, 2012 by [ayu]

It started with one lilac tree. Now we have four lilac trees of various colours, that’s how much I’ve grown to love these trees, or the flowers, more specifically. Funny that at first I did not even know that those pretty flowers sprouting out called lilac until a complete stranger stopped, knocked my door, and asked if she could have a little shoot for her mom to plant. The rest was history. Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | […]

Day 290 #Project365

October 16, 2012 by [ayu]

It’s very windy and pollen-full today in Canberra. I wasn’t sure how much of it I accidentally inhaled during my morning run. Almost like light snow these things were everywhere, floating and flying around in the air. The ground looked messy white, covered with pollen. I feel for those who has allergies or asthma, this can’t be good for them. Here’s a look of the fluff that landed on the ground.

Day 284 #Project365

October 10, 2012 by [ayu]

This shot was about compromises. I had the delicious late afternoon light, a bee, and the lovely lavender, but I couldn’t get rid of the step on the foreground. Cropping the step out was not an acceptable option. When I sat back and moved a bit, I lost the step, but lost the bee as well, as it was already busy buzzing elsewhere. And the angle of the light in the step-less image looked somewhat different. So I picked this […]

Day 280 #Project365

October 6, 2012 by [ayu]

Today was a very wet Saturday in Canberra. The rain started from early morning all through the day and I suspected a soft drizzle even now as I was writing this post after the kids have gone to bed. Droplets were everywhere. The greens were greener. Most colours saved white have gone darker. Richer. All the plants got drenched. Some droplets on the leaves looked like sparkling gems, very pretty. These images were my capture of the wet world around […]

Day 270 #Project365

September 26, 2012 by [ayu]

Flowers are one of my ‘fallback’ subjects. Sound harsh I know. But it’s true. They are there, naturally pretty and not moving,  they are an easy subject to photograph and guarantee (mostly) successful result. I find them very helpful whenever I am short of ideas, or too tired from normal daily stuff, or lazy (366 days in a year, I think I’m allowed a day or  7 days of lazy, right). Today’s excuse was exhaustion. This tree on my backyard […]

Day 156 #Project365

June 4, 2012 by [ayu]

The morning was thick in mist. The air was filled with tiny invisible drops. I love this kind of morning. Unlike the rain where you always have to wait until it’s stop completely to walk around and take photos, you can just walk right out in the mist, enjoy the world in a more subdued setting and maintain relatively dry. I stopped at the park and was glad to find that everything looked like they were bejewelled by beautiful tiny diamonds. The background […]

Day 151 #Project365

May 30, 2012 by [ayu]

The time when the sun rises and sets have to be the most appealing time to photograph. The light being so low at both dawn and dusk makes everything looks a bit more dramatic.  Being NOT a morning person in a major way, I don’t get to see a lot of sun rises. On the rare occasion that I did wake up early enough I was always so amazed at how beautiful everything was in the morning, and always promised myself that I […]

Day 90 #Project 365

March 30, 2012 by [ayu]

I love taking photos of water reflection. I know I took one yesterday, and again today.  Usually I stop myself in taking the same type of photographs or same objects in my daily post, at least not the same things two days in a row. Not because I did not want to take the shot, I still do, it’s just this feeling I had that tells me to take a different one every day for a bit of variety.  During […]
