Day 270 #Project365

September 26, 2012 by [ayu]

Flowers are one of my ‘fallback’ subjects. Sound harsh I know. But it’s true. They are there, naturally pretty and not moving,  they are an easy subject to photograph and guarantee (mostly) successful result. I find them very helpful whenever I am short of ideas, or too tired from normal daily stuff, or lazy (366 days in a year, I think I’m allowed a day or  7 days of lazy, right). Today’s excuse was exhaustion. This tree on my backyard […]

Day 268 #Project365

September 24, 2012 by [ayu]

Today’s photos were taken yesterday morning at Coogee Beach, Sydney. My lovely model for the day is my old friend who is 33 weeks old pregnant. It was a gorgeous day down at the beach, we had such a good time together. Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO125 | f/5.6 | 1/640 | The beach was quite busy when we arrived, but luckily we found a tiny spot that was not so busy as I did not want […]

Day 256 #Project365

September 12, 2012 by [ayu]

Since my friend lent me his telelens last Saturday, I tried whenever I can to use it until the time I have to return it back in a couple of days. So far there are heaps to learn. With the 70-300mm lens, I find that I have to readjust the exposure further, as the camera does not give me the right information that I ended up with many under exposed images. The lens widest aperture is f/4, I find I […]

Day 223 #Project365

August 10, 2012 by [ayu]

When one person in a family is learning photography, or is a photographer (already accomplished), the fate of the rest of the family is as good as written in stone. Sooner or later, more often than not, they will be asked/cajoled/forced and, or bribed into sitting in front of camera to be a model. This sacrifice is necessary for the good of the one person who learns photography. At this stage it is indeed very self-centered in nature because it […]

Day 177 #Project365

June 25, 2012 by [ayu]

Felt like I kept bumping into walls today, figuratively speaking. It’s a mammoth effort to shake myself out of the frustration. Push further was the way to go. The idea to photograph the street in front of my house (again) came as I was just day dreaming and looking out of my window. I’ve always been fascinated by moving lights and long exposures, so I thought I’d capture my street in a different ‘light’. I had to wait awhile to […]

Day 151 #Project365

May 30, 2012 by [ayu]

The time when the sun rises and sets have to be the most appealing time to photograph. The light being so low at both dawn and dusk makes everything looks a bit more dramatic.  Being NOT a morning person in a major way, I don’t get to see a lot of sun rises. On the rare occasion that I did wake up early enough I was always so amazed at how beautiful everything was in the morning, and always promised myself that I […]

Day 130 #Project365

May 9, 2012 by [ayu]

Today I’m doing floral. I have this feeling that I haven’t done any flowers lately. Considering the season we are in at the moment I guess it’s not really a surprise, but to be sure I took a look at images I have taken  to date that I have organised by month. (I read somewhere that the big part of Project 365 is to look back at what you have done, to see and learn from the images, so that’s […]

There are times when you just don’t have the energy to do anything else, there are times when you are so busy you can’t even sit down for 2 minutes, and there are times when your mind just refuse to cooperate with you just because. Tonight was one of those times. For me. Don’t get me wrong. I had a very good and productive day. It’s just I realised I haven’t taken any photo for today’s post and it’s already […]

Day 47 #Project365

February 16, 2012 by [ayu]

Sometimes you see or pass the same things everyday you don’t even look twice or regard them totally unattractive, even boring,  to be used as your object for photo of the day project. But it got me thinking. Sometimes I saw some really nice photographs which has ordinary things as their objects. What I meant was, sometimes the objects in these spectacular photographs are the things that you and I see or even use every day. It’s just out of […]
