Gardens by the Bay – The Cloud Forest

November 25, 2013 by [ayu]

Gardens by the Bay is my new favourite place in Singapore. As our taxi drove closer, my excitement grew just from the sight that was right in font of us.The domes, the Super Tree constructions, the sheer size of the place was impressive, and quite overwhelming.  This is the Cloud Forest. The world’s tallest indoor waterfall welcomed you as soon as you entered the dome. The super fine mists in the air freshened and cooled you straight away. Coming from the […]

Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO250 | f/16 | 1/10 | A rose this magnificent should not grow in a yard of someone who does not even like roses like myself. But it does. So what do you do….? Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO250 | f/5.6 | 1/60 |

Day 304 #Project365

October 30, 2012 by [ayu]

Nikon D90 | AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G | ISO200 | f/5.6 | 1/80 | I used to call these humble soil buckets we have at the backyard our weed buckets. But that was then, when it was indeed only weed growing in these buckets. I call them a one-time-wonder buckets now because one of the buckets especially, kept sprouting wonderful things, surprising things that I wasn’t even aware being planted in first place. Hubby and the kids are the planting optimists, […]

Day 293 #Project365

October 19, 2012 by [ayu]

It’s going to be another floral post again today. Very unlike me, I know. But this flower is rather special, because despite its brilliant colours it has such a weird shape. And I love unconventional, weirdly shaped flowers. Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO200 | f/6.3 | 1/125 | These are Irises. They don’t even belong to me. These flowers are my neighbour’s flowers. My across the road neighbour is this lovely old lady who […]

Day 280 #Project365

October 6, 2012 by [ayu]

Today was a very wet Saturday in Canberra. The rain started from early morning all through the day and I suspected a soft drizzle even now as I was writing this post after the kids have gone to bed. Droplets were everywhere. The greens were greener. Most colours saved white have gone darker. Richer. All the plants got drenched. Some droplets on the leaves looked like sparkling gems, very pretty. These images were my capture of the wet world around […]

Day 247 #Project365

September 3, 2012 by [ayu]

Herb garden. Certain season brings along a bit more sense of optimism to succeed in new projects better than others. Planting a herb garden, as a project, so that we don’t ever again have to buy from the shops is just an illusion that Spring always leads us to believe under the cloak of ‘optimism’ that comes with the season. Then we soon realise we are not really the herb garden planting people after all. Until the next spring, when […]

Day 130 #Project365

May 9, 2012 by [ayu]

Today I’m doing floral. I have this feeling that I haven’t done any flowers lately. Considering the season we are in at the moment I guess it’s not really a surprise, but to be sure I took a look at images I have taken  to date that I have organised by month. (I read somewhere that the big part of Project 365 is to look back at what you have done, to see and learn from the images, so that’s […]

Day 86 #Project365

March 26, 2012 by [ayu]

Sun flowers are fascinating to me. Look at the size of it. Even the smallest flower is way bigger than the rest of the (normal) flowers. It is not enough that they are huge, they also come in screaming bright yellow. Hard to miss. Believe it or not, we once had ONE sun flower in our ‘back yard’. Back yard is the term I use loosely to describe a huge bucket of soil next to my deck. Mr 8 was […]

blue berries

February 20, 2012 by [ayu]

These are blue berries huddled up in a bunch. Some were ripe some were so young they were very pale green. From this angle they just look like a big flower. Very peculiar. This image is just me trying out a softer tone. I’ve seen other people doing a really great job with this kind of tone, I’ve never thought that it’s for me. I’ve enjoyed the process so I guess it’s a good practice. I love the end result […]
